1703-1603 Penny (Off-Site Foster) the Cat needs a home
Some of the very saddest situations we face at the shelter are when people pass on and their animals are surrendered to us. Suddenly a pet's life is turned upside down. Penny went through this but her people made arrangements for a family to take Penny. Unfortunately, the resident cat continually picked on her, making her miserable. After 5 months, her new family finally conceded that it was not fair to Penny to go through this. Penny is currently in foster care as she was very scared in a cage. She is already spayed and can come home with you immediately!
UPDATE from Penny, herself!: I might be 6 years old but my foster momma said I act like a kitten. I am full of spunk and personality! I am shy around new people and places at first but I warm up fast and I love, love, love to be pet and have my ears rubbed! If I am not the center of your attention I will stare you down with my head cocked to the side wondering what you are doing that could be more important!!! Don't try to read a book around me, I will just crawl on your chest and then you will have to pay attention to me!! Once I bond with you for a few days I will let you pick me up, but no sooner, we have to be BFFs first. I keep all my 'treasures' in my water bowl! Every day my foster mom takes them out and I have to put them back. It is hard work because she puts my treasures back where I found them the first time so I have to go all around and collect them again. My favorite treasure is hair ties but I also love cheese wrappers, small nail files, plastic caps, basically anything small like me that I can play with! I also like to drink from the faucet :-) I am anxious around other cats. I have a history of being mistreated by another cat so that is to be expected. My foster mom says she is 'assessing' me because I might need to be the only kitty in my next home.
